1). Accessibility Audit

Website accessibility audits involve both Manual & Automated tests, run on different devices, in tandem with commonly used assistive technology.

Industry best practice states that Manual audit tests are essential because Automated audit tests currently only detect, at best, 33% of accessibility issues. In other words, simply relying on Automated test software means critical issues are frequently not detected.

Results are measured using required Success Criteria of WCAG 2.1 (required AA standard).

Overall, accessibility audits require 5 different steps:

Step 1: Scoping exercise to get a sense of the complexity of the project before estimating the requirements & costs of any potential audit. Provision of a free quote.
Step 2: Accessibility audit to produce a detailed report of issues & why they do not meet required WCAG 2.1 (required AA standards). Where possible, this will include best practice code remediation suggestions.
Step 3: Client / client Developer to implement remediation of issues.
Step 4: Secondary accessibility audit to verify issues have been resolved. If some issues are still unresolved, then further advice can be given to assist your team.
Step 5: Accessibility Statement. This is a requirement that must be published on your website to inform everyone of the current accessibility status of your digital content. Statements only relate to content on the date they are issued.
